When Civello was 17 years old she was in a group together with Mario Raja, then Roberto Gatto. With the basis of a scholarship, she went into Boston in 1994, to attend the Berklee College of Music. After graduation, she relocated in New York City and met Russ Titelman, who produced her debut album. The album was heavily influenced in part by Brazilian music, featuring the vocals of Daniel Jobim, the grandson of Antonio Carlos Jobim, and songs that were cover versions of “Outono” by Rosa Passos and “Caramel” by Suzanne Vega. Civello created one track, “Trouble”, with Burt Bacharach. The group included Steve Gadd, Larry Goldings, Jamey Haddad, Mike Mainieri, Rob Mounsey, Adam Rogers, and Ben Street.
The album’s second The Space Between (Universal Jazz and Classics 2007) was recorded by Steve Addabbo and Pete Rende. The album featured original songs as well as songs written by guitar player Jim Campilongo. In the title for her album called”7752″ (Universal Jazz and Classics 2010) and composed by Andres Levin, is a reference to the kilometers that separates New York and Rio de Janeiro. After a brief trip in the city of Daniel Jobim in Rio in 2008, collaborations with fellow artists prompted her to look into Brazilian music. Brazilian vocalist Ana Carolina was the main partner on this album. Their first collaboration, “Resta”, was in the soundtrack to The soap-opera Passione that was created through GLOBO TV. The album featured Jaques Morelenbaum Tom Jobim, Caetano Veloso, Gilberto Gil, Ryuichi Sakamoto, Marc Ribot, Mauro Refosco as well as Anat Cohen.
