Chen Zhizhao is one of the most popular and richest Association Football Player who was born on March 14, 1988 in Anshan, People's Republic of China. Chen Zhizhao Chinese: Chen Zhi Zhao Pinyin: Chen Zhizhao ; born 14 March 1988) is also popularly referred to by the name Zizao in Brazil and is a Chinese footballer who is currently playing with Guangzhou R&F in the Chinese Super League.

On February 12, Chen received a loan from Campeonato Brasileiro Serie A side Corinthians until December 31, 2013. Chen first made an appearance for Corinthians during a 2-0 loss against Cruzeiro on the 17th of October, 2012, replacing Welder in the hour mark. Chen was first to make an appearance with the club on 20 January 2013, scoring in scoring the opening goal of the 1-1 draw against Paulista. On the 11th of March, 2013 Chen received a call-up to his place in the Chinese National team under the then coach Jose Antonio Camacho to be member of the team set to play Iraq in 2015 AFC Asian Cup qualification. Chen returned to his home team Shanghai Shenxin after the 2013 season.

On 22 December 2015, Chen transferred to his hometown club Guangzhou R&F in the Chinese Super League. On 4 March 2016, he made his debut in a 2–1 home defeat against Hebei China Fortune. He scored his first goal for the club on 21 August 2016 by shooting the winner in the 87th minute against Chongqing Lifan, which gave Guangzhou R&F a 5–4 away win. On 18 June 2017, Chen was involved in a collision during a league match with Shanghai SIPG. Although just being cautioned, he received a ban of 7 matches by the Chinese Football Association.

Chen returned in the mainland of China after signing a contract for five years in the Chinese league Nanchang Hengyuan on 26 February 2009. Chen scored 3 goals when Nanchang placed second in the China League One and won promotion to the Chinese Super League for the first time. The striker scored 10 goals, and assisted eight times in the course of thirty games that ensured Nanchang’s place in the top league for the following season.

Chen Zhizhao started his football career with Shanghai Shenhua’s youth academy However, he was not able to get into their first team. He was then moved onto Hong Kong First Division League club Citizen AA at the beginning of the 2007-08 season. He made his debut with Lanwa Redbull in the first game of the season which ended in an 0-0 draw. He quickly grew into the squad and would take part in 13 league matches and would see Citizen be second in the league. In the course of the season, he’d take part in all of Citizen’s cup matches and make his debut goal with Eastern AA on 24 November 2007 in the Hong Kong Senior Shield game that saw Citizen lost 3-1. The next goals would be scored during the Hong Kong FA Cup where he scored against Eastern AA on 10 May 2008 in a semifinal match that ended by 1-0. Then, he scored scoring in the final game of that FA Cup win against Wofoo Tai Po on May 18 2008, which was a Citizen take the win by the game 2-0.

Chen was linked to Liga de Honra side C.D. Trofense in January 2011. Trofense was interested in Chen however Nanchang prevented the transfer. As per Chen’s agreement with the club from 27 February 2009, in the event that a Chinese- speaking football club made an offer of about EUR200,000 to him prior to the 26th of February 2011, Nanchang would agree to the transfer without condition. In reality, Nanchang insisted that EUR200,000 was offered by Chen’s agent in lieu of the Portuguese club. Furthermore that, in the contract that was signed in the early part of the year 2010, there was no contract clauses that were related and therefore they had sufficient arguments to deny the transfer. Chen did not want to rejoin the club following the incident. Chen did not make an appearance during the 2011 season. Instead, he was a player with Panyu Pearl, a futsal team from his hometown.

On 28 February 2014, Chen transferred to fellow Chinese Super League side Beijing Guoan. He received a ban of four matches at the beginning of 2014 season by Chinese Football Association for age falsification which he changed his age from 14 March 1988 to 14 March 1989. He made his debut for the club on 24 March 2014 in a 2–0 win against Shanghai Greenland. He scored his first goal for the club on 27 April 2014 in a 1–0 win against Harbin Yiteng.
