Hilgenbrinck’s final game was an afternoon on July 13 in 2008, in Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts in which The New England Revolution faced Mexican club Santos Laguna in a SuperLiga game.

After finishing in the year 2004, Chase was undrafted by Major League Soccer (MLS) after a promising college career. Claudio Arias, the Chilean soccer coach at the nearby Southern Wesleyan University, suggested traveling to Chile where he believed it would be a good idea to help Chase to sign a contract. Hilgenbrinck was signed by Huachipato in Chile’s highest division. He joined the Colorado Rapids in early 2008, but was waived during the pre- season without making a senior appearance after the Rapids needed to clear salary cap space for other acquisitions. Two weeks later the New England Revolution called, and after a two-day tryout, the Revolution signed him on March 28.
