Chandika Hathurusingha is one of the most popular and richest Cricketer who was born on September 13, 1968 in Colombo, Western, Sri Lanka. Upul Chandika Hathurusingha (Sinhala: upul cndik HturusiNh ; born on 13 September, 1968) is a former cricketer from Sri Lanka. The former player was the chief coach for Sri Lanka’s Sri Lanka national cricket team. Hathurusingha was also the head coach for Bangladesh’s national cricket team from 2014 to 2017. Bangladesh National Cricket team from 2014 and 2017.

On May 14, 2014 Hathurusingha became the coach of the Bangladesh national team. He was appointed to replace Shane Jurgensen, who had quit following an incident at the ICC World Twenty20. In 2017, he has been one of the best coaches ever to be engaged in Bangladesh cricket, having ODI series wins against India, Pakistan and South Africa and also Test wins in the face of Sri Lanka (away), England and Australia. In his time, Bangladesh moved higher in Team Rankings and qualified for the 2017 ICC Champions Trophy and directly qualified for the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup as well.

Hathurusingha has been appointed as assistant coach for New South Wales in September 2011 on an agreement for two years. When the head coach Anthony Stuart was dismissed from the post on December 12, halfway through the 2012-13 season Hathurusingha was appointed interim coach for the remaining season. Trevor Bayliss was appointed coach of New South Wales for the 2013-14 season in conjunction with Hathurusingha being retained as the assistant coach and replacing Shane Duff as coach of the Sydney Thunder in the Big Bash League in the course of a revamp of the Cricket NSW coaching system.

As an opening batsman Hathurusingha was most often a batsman with Roshan Mahanama. A good pace-bowler, Hathurusingha was not a part of the team for Tests until a hamstring injury to Mahanama kept the player from taking part. Hathurusingha began his career by putting together three half-centuries during his first three games. After a lengthy absence from the team when other players took over the opening batsman’s position and then the following discovery Sanath Jayasuriya, who was in the same position, Hathurusingha was able to return however this time as a strong middle order bowler and batsman. After he retired from first-class cricket towards the conclusion of the season 2004-05 and Twenty20 cricket towards the close of the next season, Hathurusingha was appointed coach of the United Arab Emirates in December 2005, on a one-year contract. Following the expiration of the deal, he became appointed head coach at Sri Lanka A on a three-year agreement for Sri Lanka Cricket. He was appointed in 2009 as was appointed as the senior assistant to Sri Lanka’s national coach Trevor Bayliss, but he was dismissed in June of 2010, for disciplinary reasons following his early return from a tour in Zimbabwe to take part in a coaching training course in Australia. Despite an appeal from Kumar Sangakkara, the national captain of the team that time to allow his retention in the post, Hathurusingha was not reappointed and was later granted permanent residence in Australia. He served as a consultant for coaching to the Canada national team in the 2010 World Cup,

On 9 November 2017, Hathurusingha resigned from coaching the Bangladesh team. On 8 December Sri Lanka Cricket announced that he would be the head coach of the national team after their 2018 tour in India.
