Chakib Benmoussa (Arabic shkyb bn mws* ) (born 1958in Fes) was the former interior minister of Morocco and is the main negotiator of the Moroccan party of the Western Sahara conflict.
He was, as part of the cabinet reshuffle of January 2010 appointed the Interior Minister Taib Cherkaoui.
The Moroccan Interior Ministry arrested 56 suspected terrorists in six cities on the 7th the 7th of August, the 7th of August. Human rights activists have accused that the Moroccan government of incarcerating innocent citizens and resorting to torture. Speaking about the arrests on September 1st Minister Benmoussa stated in a statement, “The members of this group were planning terrorist attacks targeting tourist sites, strategic government facilities and foreign holdings, and assassinations of prominent figures for political or moral reasons.”

Benmoussa is a native of Fes. He was a graduate of Ecole Polytechnique of Paris, one of the most prestigious Engineering schools of France in 1979. He graduated in 1981. He graduated from Ecole Nationale des Ponts et Chaussees in Paris in 1981. He was also was awarded the title of Master of Science degree from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
From 1989 to 1995, he was an executive in between 1989 and 1995 at the Ministry of Equipment and Transportation in Nador, and later as chief of staff of the Minister of Prime Ministry (95-98) and the president of SONASID (1998-2000) which is a state-owned steel firm based in Nador. As of 2000, he was an executive committee of ONA Group, where Morocco’s Royal family are one of the major shareholders. He was also the as the CEO of Brasseries du Maroc. He was appointed to in 2002 the Ministry of the Interior in 2002.
In December 2019, he was appointed by the king of morocco in the Special Committee on Model of Development.
