Curtis Sr. played two seasons for the Jaguars and one for the Pittsburgh Steelers before going to the Canadian Football League, where he was an All-Star in 2000. Curtis Jr. played college football at Utah State; he was a running back for the 2007 and 2008 seasons before moving to defensive back for the 2009 and 2010 seasons. Curtis Jr. was selected in the third round of the 2011 NFL Draft by the Philadelphia Eagles.

In December 2010, he was selected to the Rivals.com Pac-10 All-Freshman team in his freshman season. He was winner of UCLA’s John Boncheff Jr. Memorial Award for Rookie of the Year in his freshman season.
