Case Woodard, born October 4, 1975, is an American singer-songwriter, record producer, and songwriter. He is a two-time Grammy Award nominee. His late 1990s hits include “Touch Me, Tease Me” with vocals by Foxy Brown and Mary J. Blige, “Happily Ever after”, and “The Best Man” which was a duet performed with Ginuwine, R.L. Tyrese), “Missing You”, the 2000’s R&B number one and top five pop hits, and “Livin’ It up” with Ja Rule. These two songs earned him two Grammy Award nominations.
Case’s success is partly due to his appearances on soundtracks for movies. Nutty Professor II, Rush Hour, Nutty Professor II, The Klumps, and The Best Man feature many of Case’s most beloved tracks. These singles included “Touch Me Tease Me”, “Faded Pictures”, “Faded Pictures”, “Best Man I Can Be” and “Missing You”, all by Nutty Professor II. Case’s single “Shoulda Known Betta”, featuring Ghostface, reached #87 on R&B charts in 2004. The Neptunes produced the single, which was featured on Johnson Family Vacation’s soundtrack.
His fourth studio album, The Rose Experience which had undergone various title changes and a label shift (from Def Jam to his own indie imprint, Indigo Blue) was released on March 24, 2009. It was preceded by a single, “Lovely” which reached #72 on the R&B chart.
His fifth studio album Here, My Love was released on June 15, 2010 on Real Talk Entertainment featuring the single “Old Fashion Lovin'” and peaked at #58 on the Billboard R&B Albums chart.
Case was the first artist to be signed to the new Def Soul imprint in 2001. His third album Open Letter debuted and topped the charts. He also released the Tim & Bob-produced hit song “Missing You”. Open Letter, Case’s most famous album, went gold. “Missing You”, Case’s single that reached #1 on the Billboard Hot 100, topped the R&B charts. Case appeared later that year on Ja Rule’s hit song “Livin’ It Up” and released one more single, “Not Your Friend.” Case moved to Atlanta after the success of Open Letter to be near his children. At the 44th Grammy Awards 2002, he received his first nominations for Best Male R&B Vocal Performance (“Missing You”) as well as Best Rap/Sung Collaboration (“Livin’ It up”) Both to Usher’s “U Remind Me” and Eve’s “Let Me Blow Ya Mind”, respectively, he lost.

Case’s solo career began in 1996 when he released “Touch Me, Teach Me”, featuring Foxy Brown, a young rapper, and Mary J. Blige, a R&B singer. Later, he explained that he disliked the album because of bad business deals and his inexperience as a new artist. He also said that he didn’t have as much creative input. Case took almost three years to make a second album.
Personal Conversation was released in April 1999, following the success of Case’s first album. The album included the hit songs “Happily EverAfter” and “Faded Pictures” which reached #3 and #15 respectively on the R&B and Hot 100 charts. Joe, a R&B singer, reached #3 and #10 respectively on the Hot 100 and R&B charts. In the video for “Happily EverAfter”, Case was portrayed by Beyonce, a 17-year-old girl. The third single from the album, “Think Of You”, did not do well and reached #50 on R&B charts. Personal Conversation was awarded the gold status.
After a few years away from the music industry, Case reappeared in 2008 on the track “Face to Face” (a duet with singer Coko) which was included the soundtrack of Tyler Perry’s Meet the Browns (film).
