After returning to Chicago, she worked at Le Perroquet. She then moved on to a number of European restaurants before returning to the United States. There, she was the first woman to work in Chicago’s Le Francais. She continued her work at several other Illinois-based restaurants. She was appointed sous-chef at Four Seasons Hotel Chicago in 1989. In her second year, she was promoted to executive chef. After staying with the Four Seasons Hotels, she moved to the Four Seasons Hotel Biltmore.
Nahabedian received the James Beard Foundation Award in 2008 for the Great Lakes Region. Richard M. Daley, Chicago Mayor, was named September 22, 2009 in Nahabedian’s honor. This was also the day she was inducted into Chicago Culinary Museum’s Chefs Hall of Fame.
