Carlos Manuel Febles (Spanish pronunciation: [‘febles]; English: /’ feI bl es/; born May 24, 1976), is a former second baseman and professional baseball coach who played in Major League Baseball (MLB), from 1998 to 2003. He was 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighed 185 lb (84 kilograms). He currently serves as the Boston Red Sox’s third base coach.

Since 2007, Febles has been a manager or coach in the Boston Red Sox organization. He started his career as a hitting coach for the Lowell Spinners (2007) and Lancaster JetHawks (2008). Later, he became a manager with the Boston Red Sox’s organization from 2009 to 2010.

Another promotion followed when Febles was appointed manager of the 2014 Salem Red Sox, Boston’s Class A Carolina League affiliate. Febles led the Red Sox to a 68–68 record and a berth in the Carolina League playoffs, where they were defeated by the Myrtle Beach Pelicans, two games to one, in the opening round. Febles was named third base coach for the major league Red Sox on November 2, 2017, and was in that role when the team won the 2018 World Series. He returned as Boston’s third base coach for the 2019 season, but had to yield his coaching duties to assistant hitting coach Andy Barkett during June, due to pain in his right foot.

Febles slugged a record-breaking.257 in 2000. He then slugged no more than.245 over the next three seasons. In August 2003, the Royals designated him for assignment. He then played his last game with Triple-A Pawtucket Red Sox in 2004, where he batted in.257 in 68.

Febles, who was raised in Dominican Republic, was signed in 1993 by the Kansas City Royals as an amateur-free agent. He played in the rookie league Gulf Coast League Royals his first season in the Royals’ Farm System. In 1996, he played in Class A, Class A-Advanced, and Double A in 1998. In 1998, he was a late-season call-up by the Royals.
