Carline Muir is one of the most popular and richest Sprinter who was born on October 1, 1987 in Spanish Town, Saint Catherine Parish, Jamaica. Carline Muir, a Canadian sprinter who was born in Spanish Town (Jamaica) on 1 October 1987, is the specialist in the 400m. She was awarded the bronze medal in the 400m and led her team to the Sprint Relay title at the 2009 Summer Universiade, Belgrade, Serbia. She is also a three time junior national champion and a two-time silver medalist in the Canadian Track and Field Championships.

Muir was sixth in the 400m final at the 2010 Commonwealth Games, Delhi, India. She finished more than two seconds behind Montsho, her rival in the 400m. In the women’s relay 4×400 m, Muir was initially fourth. However, the team was immediately promoted to the bronze medal position after the disqualification by the Nigerian team.

In 2016 Muir moved to UK based coach Nick Dakin where, along with winning a number European races she broke her 8 year old Personal Best, running 51.05 in Madrid. After winning the Canadian National Championships 400m she was officially named to Canada’s Olympic team in the individual Women’s 400m and then as part of the 4 × 400 m Women’s relay for the second time. The Women’s 4 × 400 m finished 4th at the Rio Olympics.

Muir won the bronze medal in women’s 400m at the 2009 Summer Universiade, Belgrade, Serbia. She finished behind Esther Akinsulie (0.37) by 37.7 hundredths of a sec. Her time was 52.07 seconds. Her remarkable performance in leading the women’s 4×400 metre relay team to a victory was also impressive.

Muir made her international debut in 2005 at the Pan American Junior Championships, Windsor, Ontario. She won the silver medal for 400m with a time of 52.38 seconds. Muir also finished in the top ten for the relay team at 2007 Pan American Games, Rio de Janeiro Brazil. She had previously won two silver medals at national trials. Muir achieved her personal best in 2008 by running 51.77 seconds at The Harry Jerome International Track Classic, Burnaby, British Columbia. This earned her a spot at the Olympics.

Muir was the youngest Canadian track and field athlete to compete at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. She also competed for Canada’s women’s 400m. In the second heat, she ran against six other competitors, including Libania Grenot from Italy and Amantle Montsho, a promising track star from Botswana. With a personal best of 51.55 seconds, she finished third in the race. Indira Terrero from Cuba was ahead by one hundredth of an second. Muir qualified for the next round, and she was awarded the last mandatory qualifying slot in heat 2. Muir was unable to make it to the final because she finished seventh in the semifinal rounds with a time of 52.37 seconds.

Muir currently resides in Toronto, Ontario. Between 2012 and 2014 she trained in Florida before moving back to Toronto to train and the Athletics Canada East Hub, where she helped the Canadian 4 × 400 m Women’s Relay team finish 6th giving automatic qualifying for the 2015 World Championships and Rio Olympics 2016.
