Carl Heggs, who was born 11 October 1970 in Leicester (England), is an ex-footballer who has played for 13 clubs including West Bromwich Albion as well Swansea City. Heggs was the most recent manager of Hinckley United. Heggs joined the club in 2012 as an assistant, and resigned in May 2013. Heggs retired in November 2012 after Hinckley United ran out of players. After Paul Ince’s 2011 resignation, Heggs was appointed caretaker manager for League One side Notts County.

Heggs returns north for Northampton Town on August 1, 1997. Heggs had been on the losing team against the Cobblers three months prior. Heggs was with the Cobblers for just over a season, scoring six goals and making 49 appearances. However, he would return to Northampton Town with Ian Atkins.

On 28 July 2000, Heggs joined Third Division side Carlisle United on a two- year contract. However, he only spent one season with the club, making 30 appearances and scoring five goals in the process as the side narrowly avoided relegation from Football League under Ian Atkins.

Heggs was unusually loaned from a non-League club to a Football League club when he joined Chester City in March 2000, as he teamed up again with Ian Atkins. However, the Blues were in grave danger of losing their league status when Heggs arrived. He quickly struck up an effective partnership with Luke Beckett, which proved particularly successful in a 5–0 win over Mansfield Town, but it was not enough to avert relegation and Heggs moved on.

Heggs lost his place in the first football team and he was looking for a return to regular first-team football. He joined Bristol Rovers for part of 1995 season. Heggs played five times and scored one goal.

After a PS25,000 transfer from Leicester United, Heggs began his professional career with Midlands side West Bromwich Albion in 1991. Heggs made it through the reserve team and was eventually promoted to the first team. He would spend four seasons at the club. Heggs played 40 games and scored three goals for the Baggies.
