Borthwick Jackson played in all five under-17s’ matches in July 2014. He scored in both the semi-final win against Partick Thistle (Scotland) and the goal against Vendee (France). Borthwick-Jackson was a regular in the under-18s during the 2014-15 season. He played in 28 of their 29 league matches and scored the second goal in their 2-1 victory over Blackburn Rovers. He also scored an own goal against Chelsea to even the score on 2 May, just before Chelsea won 2-1.

On 2 May 2016, at the club’s annual award ceremony, he won the U21 Player of the Year award after receiving more votes than teammates James Weir and Donald Love. On 30 May 2016, Borthwick-Jackson signed a new contract with United, keeping him at the club until 2020, with the option to extend for a further year.

On 7 August 2017, Borthwick-Jackson joined Championship club and rivals Leeds United on a season-long loan for the 2017–18 campaign. His debut came two days later against Port Vale in the EFL Cup, which ended in a 4–1 win. He made his League debut for Leeds on 12 August in a 0–0 draw against Preston North End.

In 2015-16, he made the move up to the club’s Under-21s. On 7 November 2015, he was appointed on the first-team substitutes bench against West Bromwich Albion. He came on in the 76th minutes for his senior debut, replacing Marcos Rojo. Borthwick Jackson was injured several times and made his debut on 12/12/15 away at Bournemouth. It ended in a 2-1 loss. He ended the season with 10 appearances in senior league, and also won the U21 Premier League.

Borthwick Jackson was born in Manchester and joined Manchester United’s Academy in July 2003 at the age 6 years. At 16 years old, he made his debut in the reserve team. He was a substitute for Tom Lawrence on the 4-1 victory over Bolton Wanderers. He played 22 games for the under-18s in the 2013-14 season. Two more were in the FA Youth Cup.
