Caimin Douglas is one of the most popular and richest Sprinter who was born on May 11, 1977 in Rosmalen, North Brabant, Netherlands. Caimin Christian Doug (born May 11, 1977, Rosmalen in North Brabant) was a Dutch Antillean Sprinter.

Douglas and Timothy Beck, Troy Douglas, and Patrick van Balkom were tasked with reaching the 2003 World Championships in Athletics in Paris. They did this with the 4x100m relay team. The Dutch Athletics Association (IAAF), despite the fact that the team missed the national limit, they decided to send them to the World Championships. Douglas was unable to compete due to toothache. The team that Guus Hoogmoed manned ran a new Dutch record of 38.72 seconds. Douglas felt well enough to take part in the semi-finals. The record was again broken, this time at 38.63 seconds. They ran to fourth place in the final and finished at 38.87 seconds. Dwain Chambers’ positive test disqualified the British team which finished second and awarded the bronze medal to the Dutch.

After recovering from his injury he won the silver medal over 100 metres and 200 metres in 2007 at the Dutch National Championships. He was unable to qualify himself for the World Championships in Osaka and he also failed to qualify for the individual sprint events for the 2008 Summer Olympics. The 4 x 100 metres relay team together with team mates Maarten Heisen, Patrick van Luijk and Guus Hoogmoed (Gregory Sedoc and Virgil Spier as reserves) did qualify for the Olympics. Initially they finished in 17th position during the qualification process while only the first 16 teams would qualify, but due to the cancellation of the Australian team they were allowed to start in Beijing. In their qualification heat Heisen, Hoogmoed, Van Luijk and Douglas placed third in behind Trinidad and Tobago and Japan, but in front of Brazil. Their time of 38.87 was the fifth fastest out of all sixteen participating nations in the first round and they qualified for the final. In the final, the second baton change between Hoogmoed and Van Luijk failed, resulting in a slow time. They still finished the race to place seventh, before the disqualified Chinese team.

He was the Dutch national champion in 200m and qualified for the World Championships Edmonton. He decided to represent the Netherlands after his 2001 outdoor season and he immediately defended his 200m national title. He qualified for the European Championships over 100m, 200m, and the 4 x 100m relay team. However, due to his switch of nationality, he was not permitted to compete in international competitions for one year.

Douglas was born in Rosmalen to a Dutch mother, and an Antillean dad. The family moved back to Curacao, where his father was born at the tender age of 5. He played football for the local Willemstad team and the Antillean youth soccer squad from age 11. His main technique on the pitch was his pace, which formed the foundation for his running career. As a novice runner, he won the Curacao Championships 100m and 200m. He also won many medals in other disciplines. Douglas was inspired by Andruw Jones (a Curacao athlete), and ran his first international meeting in Puerto Rico. He impressed a University of Texas delegation. He moved to Texas after completing his civil engineering studies in Curacao. He ran the fastest time he had ever run over 100m at the University during a test race and was awarded the “All American” title at the end his first year.

Douglas had a goal to make an international breakthrough in 2000, but he was injured and unable to do so. He persevered and was eventually qualified for the 100- and 200-meter races at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney. He did not complete the 100m series due to a groin injury. The injury prevented him from recovering in time for the 200m series. He had to withdraw his participation. He won two more “All American” titles in his final year at Texas and, together with his team of 4 x 100m relay runners, broke a University record that had stood for 29 years.

With the same team he participated at the 2004 Summer Olympics, but they were eliminated in the series due to a mistake at the changing area between him and Van Balkom. In December 2004 he graduated at the University of Texas for his Environmental Science study. After this he moved to the Netherlands to settle himself there and he did not participate in many athletics events that year. In 2006 he achieved a silver medal at the Dutch national indoor championships by finishing second behind Hoogmoed. Douglas became Dutch national champion over 100 metres in 2006 and with a groin injury he still participated in the European Championships in Gothenburg where he disappointed in the individual events, but managed to become eighth with the Dutch national 4 x 100 metres relay team. Just days after the European Championships he had a groin surgery.
