Bujor Hoinic, a Romanian pianist and conductor, conservatory professor, and opera composer, was born 17 February 1950. Since 1984, he has been the chief conductor at Ankara’s Turkish State Opera and Ballet. He was the composer of the Turkish opera Troy.
Hoinic began his professional career in 1973. He was the music director and chief conductor of Timisoara’s State Opera, serving until 1984. He was elected to the Romanian Composers Union in 1976. Hoinic was a guest conductor at symphonic concerts and operas, as well as ballets, in many countries, such as the George Enescu Philharmonic Orchestra and Bucharest, Portugal National Symphonic Orchestra and Lisbon State Opera & Ballet. Many recordings were made for Turkish, Polish, and Romanian radios and televisions. He was named chief conductor of the Turkish State Opera and Ballet, Ankara in 1984. He is also the music director at the Baskent Chamber Orchestra, and a visiting professor in Bilkent University. Hoinic is also a permanent guest conductor for the Bilkent Symphony Orchestra and Antalya State Opera and Ballet, Eskisehir Symphon Orchestra, Mersin States Opera & Ballet and Aspendos International Opera and Ballet Festival.
