Born in Sri Lanka, Buddhika Mendis started his cricket career with Bloomfield Cricket and Athletic Club. He made his debut in the first class against Nondescripts Cricket Club on January 1999. They played six first-class matches in his career, with his last match coming in February 2000. This was just before his first four List A matches in February/March 2000.
He played in the ACC Trophy match against Malaysia in Kuala Lumpur in 2006 and in an ACC Premier League match with Nepal in 2006. In 2007, he played in the Saudara Cup against Malaysia, and also in the ACC Twenty20 Cup that year in Kuwait. In 2008, he represented Singapore in Division Five in the World Cricket League in Jersey.
In 2004, he participated in the ACC Trophy in Kuala Lumpur, and also played ACC Fast Track Countries Tournament matches against Nepalese and Hong Kong. He played in the ACC Fast Track Nations Tournament matches against Malaysian and Hong Kong the following year.

Yange Oshanka Buddhika Mendis, a Sri Lankan-born cricketer, was born 22 June 1979. He is a left-handed batsman and off spin bowler and occasionally wicket- keeper. He has been playing for the Singapore national cricket side since 2002 after previously playing first-class and List A cricket in Sri Lanka for Bloomfield Cricket and Athletic Club.
Later, he moved to Singapore where he first played in the 2002 Stan Nagaiah Trophy series against Malaysia. Since 2007, he has been a part of the series every year.
