Bryant Antoine Westbrook (born December 19th 1974) is an ex- American football cornerback who played in the National Football League. He played in the NCAA football tournament for The University of Texas.

Westbrook was picked during the initial round (fifth overall) of the 1997 NFL Draft by the Detroit Lions. In his first season Westbrook returned his first interception of his career for a touchdown. He also was the leading player for the Lions in defending 20 passes as well as making 54 tackles, two interceptions, and forced fumble. After the seasonended, Westbrook was selected as a member of the USA Today All-Rookie team.

In 2000, he was having his best season as a professional, until suffering a ruptured left Achilles tendon against the Minnesota Vikings and being placed on the injured reserve list on December 4. Despite the premature ending of his season, he registered 52 tackles (43 solo), a career-high 6 interceptions and led team with a career-high of 21 passes defensed. He also was named a Pro Bowl alternate and earned the Chuck Hughes Most Improved Player award, as voted by teammates.

In 2001, he returned to play in 9 games, making his first start on December 16 against the Vikings. He was not re-signed at the end of the year, after not being able to regain his previous form.

Westbrook is also famous for his brutal hit on Notre Dame in 1996. In the game, Irish QB Ron Powlus gave the ball to the TB Randy Kinder on the option. An unfortunate thing to Kinder, Westbrook read the play flawlessly and was able to get full energy when the ball came towards the tailback Kinder. The impact that followed caused the legendary university football announcer Keith Jackson to instantly say “Uh oh! Hello! Bryant Westbrook!” then he would mute for about 10 seconds. Then he stated, “The important thing right now is to make sure Randy Kinder can find a place to lay down… ’cause he really took a hit.”

Whoo!” Westbrook was given a non-sportsmanlike conduct penalty for taunting after Westbrook walked up to an astonished McElroy and looked at McElroy as he passed through. The team that broadcast the game was not happy with the incident. After Vermeil discovered that the referee was calling the play”taunting,” Vermeil replied by telling the referee to “just shoot the official.” The play, in the end, did not play a role in the outcome of the game, or the drive itself. The penalty was not a factor in a first down because the Aggies were within of the fifteen-yard mark. Half the distance from the goal line wasn’t enough for an initial down. The Aggies were forced to pull the field goal units.

The next year, he was moved to the left side, recording a career-high 77 tackles, to go along with 19 passes defensed (led the team) and 3 interceptions. In 1999, he was limited with hamstring injuries and a broken bone in his hand, appearing in 10 games, while posting with 34 tackles and 6 passes defensed.
