Bryan Shelton (born December 22 1965) is a American tennis coach at a college and a Former professional player. Shelton played for the collegiate team at Georgia Tech from 1985 to 1988. He then played professionally from 1989 until 1997. Then, he returned to Georgia Tech, his alma mater to be the coach of his Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets women’s tennis team, who took home the NCAA Women’s Tennis Championship in 2007. The team is now the coach in charge of Florida Gators men’s tennis team from the University of Florida.
Shelton officially quit the professional circuit in 1997. He then was appointed as a United States Tennis Association (USTA) National Coach, a post he held from January 1998 through June 1999. Shelton worked with MaliVai who was a 1996 Wimbledon finalist.
On June 8, 2012, the University of Florida announced that Shelton had been hired as the new head coach of the Florida Gators men’s tennis team.
Shelton has won his two titles in singles (Newport 1991 and 1992) throughout the course of his career. He also made it to in the final of mixed doubles at the 1992 French Open, partnering Lori McNeil. He was ranked his highest at the top of the ATP Tour on March 23 of 1992, and was ranked at number 55 in the world. his highest doubles rank 52 came on February 28, 1994. He was elected to the Huntsville Madison County Athletic Hall of Fame in the year 2006.

Shelton was born in Huntsville, Alabama. In high school He was a student at Randolph School in Huntsville. He was a member of his team, the Randolph Raiders men’s tennis team and also won the Alabama high singles title as a senior in 1984.
Shelton received an athletic award in order to attend an athletic scholarship at the Georgia Institute of Technology situated in Atlanta, Georgia, where He played for Georgia Tech’s Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets men’s tennis team from 1985 until 1988. Shelton had been one of the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) champion in singles in 1985 along with his teammate Richy Gilbert were ACC champions of doubles in 1986. He was named an All-ACC selection throughout the four seasons he played as the Yellow Jacket and was also recognized as an All- American in 1988. Shelton was the winner of his first United States Amateur Championships in 1985. The athlete completed his studies at Georgia Tech with a bachelor of engineering degree in industrial engineering , in 1989 and was admitted to the Georgia Tech Athletics Hall of Fame in 1993.
Shelton became head coach of the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets women’s tennis team in July 1999. In his first season as coach at Georgia Tech, his team went to the second round of the NCAA tournament, upsetting the No. 25 Washington Huskies before falling to the No. 9 UCLA Bruins. He was named ACC Coach of the Year in 2002, 2005, and 2007. His 2007 team won the Yellow Jackets’ third- straight ACC Championship. They then won Georgia Tech’s first NCAA-recognized team championship on May 22, 2007, by defeating UCLA in the finals of the NCAA Women’s Tennis Championship. Prior to his coaching tenure, the Georgia tech women’s tennis team had never qualified for the NCAA tournament. Shelton was named the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Coach of the Year in 2007.
