Bryan Coquard began the 2016 season by winning two times in the second and first sections of the Etoile de Besseges. On the 16th of February, as he was preparing ahead of the Tour of Andalusia, he broke the right shoulder blade. The following month, he returned to be ready to race in the classics season being unable to complete his first goal of the season, Paris-Nice. He began the season well, placing 2nd ahead of Jens Debusschere in a tiniest group sprint to Dwars door Vlaanderen. After a stage victory at in the Circuit de la Sarthe, his form continued to improve into the Brabantse classics, which are hilly, Pijl as well as the Amstel Gold Race finishing fourth in both. The month of May saw him took home his first stage race in professional competition during the Four Days of Dunkirk while winning three stages in the process. In the next month, he won his very first stage race in opposition to the clock in the prologue of Boucles de la Mayenne, in addition to winning the following stage. As he prepared for the Tour de France, he defeated Arnaud Demare during the two first sections on the Route du Sud.
Coquard made his debut for Vital Concept in January 2018 at the Sharjah Tour. He took his first victory in February at stage 1 of the Tour of Oman where he won a sprint finish ahead of Mark Cavendish. Earlier in the month Coquard narrowly missed out on victory at the Etoile de Bessèges, when Christophe Laporte passed him out at the finish line while Coquard was celebrating the victory he had thought he had won.
Coquard has signed a contract that will allow him to have a professional road racing career beginning in 2013 and signed as a member of Team Europcar. The 2013 season started off well with two stages of the Etoile de Besseges in January and February. As of 2015, Coquard was the winner of the initial stage in the Four Days of Dunkirk. The stage was cobbled that broke the peloton into pieces. Coquard took the victory in the sprint of three people in a small group.

Coquard started cycling in 1999, at the age of seven in the US Pontchateau club. When he was in September of 2008 at the age of 16 years old Coquard was accepted into CREPS Bordeaux, where he was trained by Eric Vermeulen.
As of 2009, Coquard was crowned World Junior Omnium Champion and also being the winner of the Scratch Race at the European championships. He defended the Junior Omnium crown in 2010 and won four of the six races, and was 2nd on the Scratch Race. Because of his track record in June 2011, Coquard signed an agreement to join Team Europcar for the start of the professional season on the road. The following month, he won the champion of the omnium in France and won 5 of the six races. After that the selection, he was chosen as the representative of France at the Omnium race at the 2012 Summer Olympics. He was awarded the silver medal and finished second to Lasse Norman Hansen from Denmark.
In August 2017 it was confirmed that Coquard had signed for the newly formed Vital Concept team, as team leader for 2018, shortly after Coquard was excluded from the Total Direct Énergie Tour de France team. Coquard was also offered a place on the Quick-Step Floors team, but turned it down as he felt he would be put as 2nd sprinter behind Fernando Gaviria
