Bruno Bonnell (born 6 October 1958) is a French politician and businessman from La Republique En Marche! (LREM) which was elected into the French National Assembly on 18 June 2017. He is the co-founder of Infogrames Entertainment SA.
On April 5, 2007 Bonnell was fired from his jobs with Atari along with Infogrames. The day after the announcement of his departure, the shares of IESA jumped by 24 percent. In June 2008 the company was acquired by zSlide which is a company located close to Paris. In 2013, he was employed by Robopolis the Lyon-based robot distributor.
On 31 May 2012, Bonnell was elected as President of the EMLyon Business School Board. EMLyon is a business school in Lyon, created in 1872.
On 11 May 2017, Bonnnell was nominated by En Marche! to contest Rhône’s 6th constituency, against minister Najat Vallaud-Belkacem, in the legislative elections.
Bonnell was elected president in 1995. Bonnell received the title of president for Syndicat des Editeurs de Logiciels de Loisirs (SELL), an French gaming developer’s association. He collaborated in partnership with French television station Canal Plus to create the TV Channel Game One, which was specifically designed for gamers. The idea was to create an European Channel, Game One broadcast in the French language.

Bonnell led takeovers of a number of smaller (and several bigger) development studios during the 1990s and 1980s particularly British development company Ocean Software and Atari, along with GT Interactive, Accolade, Gremlin Graphics and Hasbro Interactive. These companies were incorporated with the Infogrames infrastructure. The brand names of these companies were dropped with the exception of Atari that Bonnell believed had value. This is why Infogrames started using the Atari brand for games released at the time of Christmas 2001. It changed its name it as Atari, Inc. in the US in 2003. In addition to his involvement with Infogrames and Atari Bonnell also holds a stake of Lyon’s soccer team named that’s the Olympique Lyonnais.
Bonnell began his career with his Thomson TO7, one of the first home computers made by France prior to founding Infogrames on June 23, 1983. He co-founded the company at the age of 25 along with Christophe Sapet and Thomas Schmider.
Bonnell was chairman and chief creative officer of the company from 1983 to 5 April 2007. He was also chief executive officer; a position he held from 1983 until a stockholder vote in 2003 showed a lack of confidence in his management of the company’s debts. He stepped down as CEO of Atari (while retaining his other two positions in IESA) in 2004 to be replaced by James Caparro, although he took up the position again on a temporary basis when Caparro resigned in June 2005. On 5 September 2006, David Pierce was appointed as new CEO of Atari.
