Kingma is a pioneer in experiential entrepreneurship education and community engagement and his work cover topics ranging from academic entrepreneurship, entrepreneurship and religion, information economics, online education, community engagement, library science, and nonprofit management. Under his leadership, Syracuse University developed seven academic entrepreneurship centers, six student clubs, over 150 student ventures a year, and achieved top-10 national ranking in entrepreneurship education from US News, Businessweek, And Entrepreneur Magazine.
Kingma started off his entrepreneurial venture in 1995 by founding the Guilderland Youth Basketball Club. It was a community non-profit organization which served over 300 children between the ages 5-13.
