Brian Rice (born 11 October 1963) is a Scottish footballer and coach who is currently the head coach at Hamilton Academical. Rice was a player in the clubs of Hibernian, Nottingham Forest, Grimsby Town, West Bromwich Albion, Stoke City, Falkirk, Dunfermline Athletic, Clyde and Greenock Morton. Following his retirement from the sport, Rice worked as a coach for Greenock Morton, Airdrieonians, Falkirk, Hibernian, Inverness Caledonian Thistle and St Mirren. Rice joined Hughes in his return to Hibernian at the time Hughes became manager in June of 2009. He took a lead coaching role for the first time in January 2019, when he was appointed head coach of Hamilton Academical. During January 2020, Rice admitted that he had a gambling addiction. He was banned from working on the touchline for ten matches (five of which were suspended) by the Scottish Football Association because he had regularly bet on football. This led to a wider debate in Scottish football about a perceived gambling culture, and sponsorship of clubs and competitions by gambling companies.
As of 2000 Rice became assistant manager for Ian McCall at Greenock Morton with a single appearance as an athlete. Rice was appointed the assistant manager of McCall at Airdrieonians however Airdrieonians went out of operations in 2002. McCall and Rice later both took on similar roles at Falkirk. McCall later moved for Dundee United, while Rice was at Falkirk as a supporter for John Hughes. He was instrumental in helping the club to win the First Division in 2005 and make it to the Scottish Cup Final.

Rice was born in Bellshill close to Glasgow, Rice began his career with Hibernian. Rice made 98 appearances for Hibs over 5 seasons on Easter Road, scoring 12 goals. He was hired in the hands of Nottingham Forest manager Brian Clough in August 1985 for PS175,000. While there, Forest won the Football League Cup twice in 1989 and in 1990. Forest scored a memorable winning strike in the final of the FA Cup against Arsenal in 1988. He was an ‘obsessed hero’ among fans due to his inability to run.
As an Forest players, Rice had loan spells at Grimsby (making four appearances), West Bromwich Albion (making three appearances) and Stoke City (making 18 appearances in 1990-91). After 115 games in the first team of Forest and scoring twelve goals the month of August 1991, Rice came back to Scotland and joined Falkirk with the intention of playing for them through the early period of the 1995-96 season. Then, he joined Dunfermline and then Clyde during two years and then left Clyde at the close in the season 1998-1999.
Rice left Inverness in June 2018 to take the assistant manager position at St Mirren, working for Alan Stubbs.
