He regularly performs in his home country of the USA, Latin America and Ireland with guitarist William Coulter with whom he released his EP ‘Towards the Sun in the year 2015. He is also a member of the influential Russian rock group called Aquarium in live performances as well as recording their album (since around 2009). He was a part of the cross-genre project Parallelogram.
In 2010 Brian has formed his own band, along with guitar Ian Stephenson and drummer Jim Goodwin. They formed a band, KAN, with those musicians as well as the fiddler Aidan O’Rourke until disbanding in 2014. An album by the singer, The Ravishing Genius of Bones, came out in the year 2010.

It was initially a three-piece band that performed as the ‘Three Nation Flutes with Sarah Allen and Mike McGoldrick and later, Ed Boyd on guitar forming Flook. After Mike quit the group around 1997 John Joe Kelly (a frequent guest musician) was joined as a bandmate on the bodhran. Flook continue to perform around the globe, bringing their fans all over the world. In 2006, Flook were named the most popular band in the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards. He is a regular teacher at Folkworks along with Burwell Bash where he has been an instructor since 1994.
