Belke established Live Sex Shows with his twin brother Marc who was who is also a guitarist, as well as musician Ken Chinn in 1981 after they had met through skateboarding culture located in Edmonton, Alberta. The group was not long-lived however, the trio formed the Society’s Non Fucking Use (better known as the abbreviation SNFU) in the year following. With an ever-changing rhythm section, SNFU released four albums and was the catalyst to the underground skate movement, in addition to having a significant impact on the punk rock scene in general before disbanding briefly in 1989. Following the breakup of the group’s first, Marc and Brent founded the Wheat Chiefs, whose sound featured the power pop genre and melodic hardcore influences that weren’t immediately evident in the SNFU’s music.
