Wieck was a student at San Jacinto Christian Academy in Amarillo, Texas. After graduation, He went to Frank Phillips College and was selected to the Philadelphia Phillies in the 29th round of the 2012 Major League Baseball draft. He didn’t sign with the Phillies and was transferred onto Cisco College. After a year at Cisco He moved into Oklahoma City University and was selected into the New York Mets in the seventh round of 2014’s Major League Baseball draft.
Wieck signed on and spent 2014 as a player for his team, the Brooklyn Cyclones, posting a 1-1 record and a 1.40 ERA in 16 relief appearances. He began 2015 with his team, the Savannah Sand Gnats.
