In Canada, Kerr held Assistant Catering Manager posts at CNE Stadium Toronto, the CNE Stadium Toronto, Ottawa Civic Centre, Crystal Beach Park and African Lion Safari and coordinated the catering of the Pope John Paul II’s visit to Canada in 1985, which was attended by 1 million people.

In 1999, Kerr established PERK Coffee Shops. In 2003, he purchased Fitzers which held 50 percent of the shares of PERK Then, he transferred Perk for Insomnia at the end of 2004. Kerr returned all the profits from the Perk sale into Insomnia and was the CEO and shareholder of Insomnia. From 2004 onwards, Kerr has led the expansion of Insomnia from 17 to 50 stores and increased the turnover by EUR5 millions to EUR13 Million.

He held various positions within Campbell Catering, then moving into marketing and business roles for Contract Catering Company. The year 1992 was when Kerr was appointed to the management of Bewleys Oriental Cafe. He also managed Bewleys Franchising and Bewleys Bakery.
In 1997, Kerr was appointed Director of Development for the Campbell Bewley Group, with responsibility for overseas development for Bewley Brand. Bewley Brand in the United Kingdom, United States and Japan.
