Bobby Kay is one of the most popular and richest Wrestler who was born on January 5, 1950 in Memramcook, Canada. Romeo Cormier (January 5, 1950 from January 5, 1950 until January 17 2021) was a Canadian professional wrestler who was best known under the Ring name Bobby Kay. He was part of the wrestling family Cormier which was a family of four brothers, all of whom were professional wrestlers who were successful. He was employed in Canada and in the United States from 1967 to the mid-1980s. He briefly owned and operating a portion of the Eastern Sports Association. After his retirement from wrestling the singer performed professionally in country music before he joined Loblaws.

Cormier quit professional wrestling in order to be closer to his family, including his two children. He also played country music with his band, the Bobby Kay Band. He also taught his long-time friend ex-professional referee to professional wrestling Hubert Gallant, to play the guitar. Cormier also tried his hand at promoting wrestling events to places like Moncton, New Brunswick and Halifax, Nova Scotia in the middle of the 1980s. After negotiating exclusive deals for promotions in specific regions but he had difficulty attracting fans once his promotion was cut off when the World Wrestling Federation moved into the same territories. Since it was the case that WWF had a bigger budget and could get access to arenas with greater seating capacity the Cormier promotion was not able to be competitive. A party occurred in Memramcook to commemorate the four brothers who wrestled. Cormier took part in occasional wrestling matches while working as a shipping and receiving agent for Loblaws.

He died on January 17, 2020 at a hospital in Moncton, New Brunswick, at the age of 70.

The following the same year Cormier went back to Kansas where he was crowned his first NWA Central States Heavyweight Championship in December. Cormier then went back with Stampede Wrestling, this time taking on the ring’s the name Bobby Burke to form a tag team together with Leo Burke, his younger brother. Leo Burke. They beat The Royal Kangaroos in 1977 to take home the Stampede Wrestling International Tag Team Championship. After losing the title in favor of Mr. Hito and Michel Martel later in the year, they didn’t win the title until the year 1980 and they were able to defeat Duke Myers and Bobby Bass.

Cormier began his career professionally in the year 1967 and wrestled throughout the world. When he traveled the globe as a competitor Cormier used a variety of name rings. For the Calgary ring of Stampede Wrestling, he used the name Norton Jackson. Then, he adopted the name Terry Martin while wrestling in Central States Wrestling. He was primarily tag team wrestlers, and he was awarded the first championship belt at Kansas City on 31 October 1968. Along together with brother Leonce and using his name Tommy Martin, he won the Central States version of the NWA North American Tag Team Championship. The title lasted just one week before they handed over the title to the Texas Outlaws (Dick Murdoch and Dusty Rhodes).

Cormier also wrestled with Cormier also competed for the Eastern Sports Association (ESA) that was a part of the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA). Cormier’s brother Jean-Louis was a wrestler who he referred to in the ring as Rudy Kay, was both an author and wrestler for ESA Cormier, and Cormier utilized his brother’s name for a ring as the basis for his decision to be Bobby Kay. In ESA Cormier family, the four brothers were often paired up against identical wrestlers. A the heel (villain) wrestling champion would wrestle one brother before moving onto the next in succession. Bobby Kay held the ESA International Tag Team Championship numerous times during the ESA His first win came when he was paired with his Leonce, his brother Leonce (who was at the time fighting under the name Leo Burke) to win the title in mid-1973 after beating Fred Sweetan and Mike Dubois. The title was held for a month or so before losing the title in the hands of Sweetan as well as Kurt Von Steiger. Kay joined forces with his brother Yvon (who was popularly known by the nickname The Beast) to regain the title. The teams traded titles between them throughout the summer. The title was lost to Sweetan as well as Jim Dillon in autumn 1973. After Jim Dillon quit the league and the championship was disqualified; Kay and The Beast returned the title in the year following. The reign was less than an entire week, before Sweetan and Dubois were awarded the title. Alongside Burke on June 24, 1974 Kay enjoyed a final time with the title. He suffered an injury, however, Ron Thompson defended the championship in his place.

Cormier competed in Toronto from 1982 to 1984 under the ring name Terry Kay, a name that he had also used while wrestling in Charlotte, North Carolina. He won the NWA Canadian Television Championship on 26 December 1982. He and his brother Leonce bought out Jean-Louis’s stake in the Eastern Sports Association but ran into problems with their partner Al Zinck and television deals, which enabled Atlantic Grand Prix Wrestling (AGPW) to gain a stronger foothold in the Maritimes. His final title victory came in AGPW, where he won the company’s North American Tag Team Championship in 1990 while teaming with his brother Leo.
