Conn is born Jeffrey Stafford in New York and spent the majority of his life living in his home in the Chicago suburbs in St. Charles. Conn formed a punk hardcore group in high school dubbed “The Broken Kockamamies” (The BK’s or BKS) that were known for their use of strobe lights eight feet tall in a dark stage as their sole prop. The strobes were referred to as “the pillars of fear.” The year was 1989. Conn performed guitar with the Chicago avant-garde rock group Conducent (Conn/guitar Rex Jenny/bass with vocals, DeShawn/drums, vocals and DeShawn, Le Deuce/loops/beats as well as atmosphere). The diverse Conducent sound came through improv, and then grew in an “open mic” circuit, then maturing as a performing group. Conn left the group in 1994 following Conducent disbanded. The first band he formed was former Conducent members DJ Le Deuce on turntables and his soon-to-be bride Julie Pomerleau (a.k.a. Monica BouBou) on electric violin. Conn continued to release six studio albums up to this point: Bobby Conn (1997), Rise Up! (1998), The Golden Age (2001), The Homeland (2004), King For A Day (2007) and Macaroni (2012) as well with Live Classics (2005), Live Classics (2005) and an E.P. entitled”Llovessonngs” (1999).

What’s the point in that?” Conn also said in another interview that the source of his onstage persona was “egomaniacal delusions that I’ve had since I was a kid – I tried to hyperbolize them to see how far it would go. To me when I came up with the whole idea of trying to promote myself as a potential Antichrist I figured that no-one is going to take this seriously or even acknowledge it because it’s about the dumbest thing you could say.”
