Mann was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Mann graduated from Whitefish Bay High School in 1970. Mann was the 1969-70 Wisconsin Junior Amateur Champion and received a scholarship from Indiana University, where he was a co-captain on the team in 1973. Big Ten Championship golf team. He studied marketing and advertising and awarded a bachelor’s degree. He turned pro in 1974.
As an PGA Tour player, Mann was a few times ranked in the top 10 places, including winning during the 1978 Walt Disney World National Team Championship along with his playing alongside Wayne Levi. Mann’s best performance in majors was 51st in a tie in the 1979 PGA Championship.
