William Amar “Billy” Keys (born on the 26th of October 1977) is a former American NBA professional and basketball instructor. With a height of 6’2″ (1.88 m) and weighing around 210 pounds. (95 kilograms) He played in the position of point guard. He is currently a coach at Mayfield High School in Las Cruces, New Mexico.

The summer of 2004 saw him participated in players from the NBA Summer League teams of both the Detroit Pistons and the Denver Nuggets. Then, he played with the Nuggets in their 2004-05 NBA practice camp for the season, however he was not a part of any official NBA games for the club. Then, he played for players from the NBA Summer League teams of both the Portland Trail Blazers and the Houston Rockets, in the summer of 2005.

Keys began his basketball coaching career in 2014, when he became an assistant coach at Centennial High School, in Las Cruces, New Mexico. He then became the head coach at Mayfield High School, in Las Cruces, New Mexico, in 2015.

Keys was a part of key players of Miami Heat during their 2002-03 NBA season training camp, however Keys did not participate on any formal NBA matches with the team. Keys was then a part of The New York Knicks’ NBA Summer League team during the summer of 2003. Keys was the winner of in 2004 the CBA championship together with his team, the Dakota Wizards.

After playing basketball at the high school level in Hugh Manley High School in Chicago, Illinois, Keys played basketball in college in Northeastern Illinois University, with the Northeastern Illinois Golden Eagles, from 1995 to 1998, and also as a student at New Mexico State University, as part of the New Mexico State Aggies, from 1998 to 2000. Keys was selected to the 1999-2000 seasons All-Big West Conference First Team.

On February 1, 2001 Keys was signed by Grindavik in the Icelandic Urvalsdeild Karla. In his first game this season, he scored a record-setting season-high 47 points with 18 rebounds and seven assists. In three games in the regular season Keys averaged 38.7 pointsand 12.7 rebounds , and 5.7 assists. For the playoffs Grindavik fell to Tindastoll 2 to 1 in the first round . Keys average of 26.0 scores, 4.0 rebounding along with 3.0 assists.

Keys also played in the three major European national domestic basketball leagues, the Italian LBA League, the Spanish ACB League, and the Greek Basket League. In 2009, he extended his contract with the EuroLeague club Maroussi. He retired from playing professional basketball in 2014.
