Bill Graves is one of the most popular and richest Politician who was born on January 9, 1953 in Salina, Kansas, United States. Graves was born in Salina, Kansas, in 1953 to parents who operated an operation for trucking. After finishing his studies at Kansas Wesleyan University with a business degree, he started working as a human resource manager. In 1986 the year the state elected him Kansas Secretary of State. Then, in 1991 the state was named an agent of state governments for the Competitiveness Policy Council.

In 1998, he was elected again by securing 74% votes which was the biggest margin of victory for any governor who was running in 1998 and was one of the largest margins for victory in Kansas governorship history. Graves was not allowed to run for another term as governor under Kansas state law. He became the successor of Democrat Kathleen Sebelius in January 2003. The lieutenant governor who was with him was governors were Sheila Frahm (1995-1996), who he named to take over Bob Dole’s position in the Senate as well as Gary Sherrer (1996-2003).

He was defeated by Democratic congressman Jim Slattery in the Republican massive 1994 elections at 41 years old, and was one of the governors with the smallest age of Kansas history. He was a moderate Republican, Graves was known for his disagreements with the conservative faction in his Kansas Republican Party. His time in office was marked by significant economic growth for Kansas following years of economic recession, as well as a continuing importance on education. In 1997, Graves was chairman of the Midwestern Governors Association.
