Bidisha began writing for the arts publications such as i-D, Oyster, Volume, Dazed and Confused, and the NME at age 15, after the launch of a style fanzine when she was 14 , as part the protest grrrl revolution. In 1995 at the age of 16 Bidisha signed a book deal worth PS15,000 contract with HarperCollins. The first novel she wrote, Seahorses, was published two years later, in her first year at the university. At the time, she published regular opinion pieces in The Big Issue magazine, The Daily Telegraph and the Thursday edition of The Independent newspaper. Bidisha’s first novel, the suspense Too Fast to Live, was released when she was 21. The third novel, Venetian Masters – a travel memoir, was released at the beginning of February in 2008. She was a contributor editor to the literary magazine for women Sibyl as well as the fashion publication 2nd Generation, and has published in The Guardian, the Financial Times, Mslexia, The Observer, New Statesman, and the arts magazine The List.

Global affairs was the focus in Venetian Masters (2008), which was a study of Northern Italy, and Beyond the Wall (2012), an investigation that was shot in Palestine. The year 2013 was the time she was made the Fellow in the International Reporting Project run by Johns Hopkins University in Washington, DC, and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Her job is to concentrate on issues of international development as part of a global community of journalists. Her fifth book, titled Asylum and Exile A Study of the Hidden Voices of London, is a result of her extensive outreach work with asylum seeking people and refugees.
