Bente Nordby (born 23 July 1974) is a former Norwegian soccer goalie who was last with Olympique Lyonnais in Lyon, France. She was part of Norway’s Norway women’s national soccer team from 1991 until 2007.
Born in Raufoss, Bente Nordby began her professional career at Raufoss/Vind. Later, she became a member of SK Sprint-Jeloy of Norway’s Toppserien in which she played until the conclusion in the season 1995. In the lead-up to the season of 1996 Sprint-Jeloy were replaced by Athene Moss. She was a player until 2000.
In the 1999 Women’s World Cup, Norway placed fourth overall, having lost to China in the semifinals, 5-0, then to Brazil in the Bronze Medal match.
She was on the Olympic Gold squad at the Sydney Summer Olympics on 28 September 2000.
Nordby took over for her long-time GK Reidun Seth starting goalkeeper in 1995. In 1995’s Women’s World Cup, she scored just one goal in six games which led to the first Women’s World Cup title for Norway beating Germany by 2-0.

The year 1991 was the time Nordby played as the nation’s reserve keeper of the national team at the Women’s World Cup in 1991 at China; Norway won a silver medal. She was part of the team which took home both the 1993 European Championship and the Algarve Cup in 1994.

After returning to Norway, Nordby joined Kolbotn in 2002, where she went on to win the Norway league that same year. She continued to play with Kolbotn until the end of the 2004 season. She then signed with Asker FK in December 2005. While playing with Asker, she won the Norwegian Cup in 2005, her only time with the club.
