Following his rehabilitation from injury Folami played for Ipswich’s Under-23 team, before returning to the first-team football on November 12, 2019 in an away loss of 0-1 against Colchester United in an EFL Trophy group stage game.
Folami was a debutant in the Australia U23 side in a 2-1 defeat to Iran on October 14, 2019. Folami scored his debut goal for the U23s in the process of receiving his second cap playing as a substitute for the second half while scoring in their 5-1 win against China on November 15th, 2019.

Born in Sydney The city of his birth, Folami joined Ipswich Town’s academy at the age of 15 after having been a player with The Football NSW Institute and the Sutherland Sharks at youth level. After progressing through the youth academy in the Portman Road area Portman Road, he went to make his first senior appearance in the 2-1 loss to Crystal Palace in the EFL Cup second round on the 22nd of August, 2017. The first time he made it to the league with the team on April 2nd, 2018, in a match against Millwall. On January 14, 2019 Folami injured his Achilles tendon in a game for under-23s with Cardiff City, ruling him out for the rest of the season.
Folami is from Nigerian descent. In October Folami was selected to join the Australia U19 team to play during the 2018 AFC U-19 Championship held in Indonesia. He played four times in the tournament, scoring one goal, while they Young Socceroos exited the U-19 championships in the quarterfinals. Folami impressed with his performance throughout the tournament and was praised by Fox Sports describing him as “an absolubte revelation” and declaring that he was “Australia’s best player”.
On 31 January 2020, Folami signed for Stevenage on loan until the end of the 2019–20 season. He made his debut on 8 February, coming on as a second-half substitute in a 2–1 loss to Exeter City.
