Benjamin Thomas Foakes (born 15 February 1993) is an English cricketer. Foakes is an right-handed batsman, who plays for wicket-keeping. Foakes made his debut as an international player in his England the cricket squad in November, 2018.

In September of 2017, he was selected in England’s Test team to play in the 2017-18 Ashes series, but the team did not get taking part at any international games. In October of 2018 He was included in England’s Test team to play the series with Sri Lanka. He made his debut in the Test match in the series for England in the series against Sri Lanka on 6 November 2018, scoring 107 runs in the opening innings, and bringing England to a credible total. He became the 20th batsman from England to reach an unbeaten century in his debut Tests, and the second English wicket-keeper to accomplish this following Matt Prior, and the fifth wicket-keeper in the world.

Foakes began his career with England Under-19s in the month of January in 2011 and played 2 Youth test matches with Sri Lanka Under-19s during England’s tour to Sri Lanka. It was during the tour that he made the Youth One Day International debut and to date, he played six times in the format, including in July of 2011 when he took part in three youth One-Day International matches with South Africa Under-19s.

In 2011, the English year, Foakes played his first game for Essex during a First-Class game against Sri Lanka’s touring team in Chelmsford’s County Ground, Chelmsford. Foakes was dismissed for five runs in Essex’s opening innings with Thissara Perera. He was caught three times from behind stumps, getting two in the first innings of the Sri Lankans and one catch in their second. In September of 2011 He signed a professional contract that was valid until 2013.

In April 2019, Foakes was added to England’s squad for the one-off One Day International (ODI) against Ireland and the one-off Twenty20 International (T20I) against Pakistan. He replaced Sam Billings who was ruled out of the side with a dislocated shoulder. He made his ODI debut for England against Ireland on 3 May 2019. He made his T20I debut for England against Pakistan on 5 May 2019.
