Buchholz is a native of Duisburg. She was a student of flute as well as the bass guitar and guitar, and singing at Bielefeld University. She made her debut as a bassist with the German women’s jazz group Reichlich Weiblich. In the early 1980s, she has been involved in various interdisciplinarity projects as a performer and composer. She composed e.g. Tap It Deep -,,midified” Steppdance and music, Human Interactivity and Theremin Berlin-Moscow.

Along with Kavina Buchholz, in 2005, Buchholz created Platform Touch! Don’t Touch! Platform Touch! Don’t Touch! for the theremin. The new compositions for the platform were developed with Moritz Eggert Michael Hirsch, Caspar Johannes Walter Juliane Klein Peter Gahn, Gordon Kampe and Sidney Corbett. Buchholz was part of an ensemble together with Norwegian trumpeter Arve Henriksen as well as live electronic musician Jan Bang, toured with Jazz Bigband Graz in the context of ELECTRIC POETRY & Lo-Fi Cookies and performed solo as well.
