Aparna Popat (born 18 January 1978) is an ex- Indian badminton champion. She was the country’s champion for nine times, when she was the winner of all senior national championships in 1997 and 2006.

Aparna started playing badminton in 1986 in Mumbai. When she was just 8 years old, she was approached by Anil Pradhan to coach her and he noticed a spark in her and said to the parents “Give me this girl and I will put her on the map of Indian Badminton”. As a National champion and a coach himself, he assisted her in developing the abilities to meet the many challenges associated with the sport.

Aparna captured her first Senior National title at Hyderabad in 1997. She went on to win the Senior National title till 2006, thereby equaling the Prakash Padukone’s record of winning nine consecutive national singles titles.
