The next fight for Hardonk was against Frank Mir at UFC 74 on August 25 on the 25th of August, 2007. Hardonk was defeated by a Kimura Lock in the opening round. Recently, Antoni beat Colin Robinson at UFC 80 by TKO 17 seconds into the opening round, and Eddie Sanchez at UFC 85 via TKO in the 2nd round. Hardonk was back in the Octagon on December 27 in UFC 92 where he defeated newcomer Mike Wessel via second-round TKO. On April 18 at UFC 97 he was defeated by Cheick Kongo with a TKO in two rounds. Pat Barry and Hardonk fought on the 24th of October in UFC 104. After some successes with his Ilyushin kicks in the first round Hardonk’s opponent showed his strength in the second round with quick jabs, and Hardonk was injured several times before falling and succumbing to strikes at around 2:30 of round 2.

Antoni was able to make the K-1 debut in his debut at the K-1 World Grand Prix 2001 Preliminary Scandinavia the 9th of the 9th of June in 2001. On the 29th of September 2002, Antoni would take on the fellow Dutch kickboxer and the future K-1 Grand Prix Champion Remy Bonjasky in the It’s Showtime The It’s Showtime As Usual / Battle Time event in the Netherlands. Antoni stood his ground during the fight , but fell in the fifth round of a unanimous decision. Antoni would lose the next two fights to Attila Karacs, and Badr Hari before putting an end to his four-fight losing streak on the 29th of July 2005, when he defeated Croatian Domagoj Ostojic by third-round technical knockout in Ultimate Nokaut 2.

His next fight was at UFC Fight Night 9 on April 5, 2007 against Justin McCully, a late-notice replacement for Hardonk’s original opponent, former UFC Heavyweight Champion Frank Mir, as he had to drop out due to a shoulder injury. Hardonk lost to McCully via unanimous decision.
