Kammeyer ran as a candidate for the SPD in the 2011 Hamburg state election, in voting district 2 of Billstedt-Wilhelmsburg-Finkenwerder. Kammeyer was elected despite only being 47th in the SPD list of party members. On the 7th March of 2011 her name was made the youngest parliamentarian in Hamburg Parliament.
