Anne McLaughlin is one of the most popular and richest Politician who was born on March 8, 1966 in Greenock, Scotland, United Kingdom. Anne McLaughlin (born 8 March 1966) is an Scottish National Party (SNP) politician who has served as an MP (MP) of Glasgow North East since 2019. The current term is her 2nd as a member of the UK Parliament. She been in the position until her defeat in the 2017 general election , which was won by Paul Sweeney of the Labour and Co-operative Party. The next general election, which took place in December of 2019, McLaughlin regained the seat with the majority of 2 548 votes.

She was a former member of the Scottish Parliament from 2009 to 2011.

She contested the Glasgow Provan constituency in the May 2011 Scottish Parliament election but was unsuccessful.

McLaughlin was elected to the UK Parliament in the 2015 general election, for the Glasgow North East constituency. She won the seat from the incumbent Labour MP Willie Bain on a swing of 39%, breaking the record for the biggest swing at a general election. She then however narrowly lost her seat to Labour candidate Paul Sweeney at the snap general election in 2017.

McLaughlin was appointed a regional representative for Glasgow on February 6, 2009 following the passing of Bashir Ahmad. She was the next person to be added to the SNP’s regional list. Before that, she worked as a researcher with MSP Bob Doris. She has been a champion of English proficiency in Glasgow students in Glasgow schools. She was part of both the Public Audit and Public Petitions committees in the parliamentary parliament (2009-2011).

McLaughlin originates from Greenock but has been a resident of Glasgow for a number of years. She was a student at Port Glasgow High School, which she graduated from in 1984. Then she attended at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama as well as The University of Glasgow. She was a member of the SNP following her vote in the 1998 Govan by-election.
