Annastacia Palaszczuk is one of the most popular and richest Politician who was born on July 25, 1969 in Durack, Queensland, Australia. Annastacia Palaszczuk (/”‘ p ae l ‘ S eI/ ( listen ) , Polish: [pa’wastsuk] ; born on July 25, 1969) is an Australian politician and the 39th Premier of Queensland and has been serving from the 2015 election. She was an Labor Member of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland since the election of 2006, and represents an electorate in Inala. She was ministerial in a variety of portfolios during the Bligh Labor government from 2009. After Labor’s defeat in the election of 2012, Palaszczuk was elected to succeed Bligh as the leader in Queensland Labor. Following the demise by the Newman LNP government in 2015, Palaszczuk was one of the few women in Australia to be appointed premier of a state that was in Opposition. Her first government was majority woman (8 out of 14) which was a first for Australia.

On the 9th of October, 2009, Palaszczuk was named Parliamentary Secretary for the Minister of Main Roads and Local Government following Ronan Lee’s resignation in the direction of the Greens. Five months later she was appointed as Minister for Disability Services and Multicultural Affairs within the Bligh Ministry following the elections of 2009. In February of 2011 she was promoted to Minister of Transport and Multicultural Affairs.

On 29 March 2012, Palaszczuk announced that she would support the state parliamentary term being extended to four years, as is the case in the other Australian states. Newman indicated he supported the move as well.

At the 2012 election, the Bligh government was overwhelmingly defeated by Campbell Newman-led Liberal National Party, losing 44 seats. Palaszczuk suffered a 14-point swing in Inala, but retained her seat with a 46.2 per cent primary vote and a 56.9 per cent two-party vote.

Palaszczuk served as an adviser on policy to many Labor ministers such as the Minister of Communities, Disabilities and Seniors, Warren Pitt and former Minister for the Environment, Dean Wells. She then decided to pursue an opportunity to work in the legal field and was preparing for her admission as solicitor after her dad announced his plans to retire in the election of 2006.

This decision had been “poorly communicated to the community”, she said, “There were other issues, but that is the single point where we lost faith with the community. For that I apologise.” Palaszczuk defended the decision itself, saying it was made to save jobs across the state, but conceded that the Government should have been more open more quickly regarding the policy.
