Anja Andersen is one of the most popular and richest Handball Player who was born on February 15, 1969 in Odense, Region of Southern Denmark, Denmark. Anja Andersen (born 15 February 1969 in Odense, Denmark) is an ex- Danish handball player for the team and the current coach. The Danish player is Olympic winner, World champion and two times European champion. In 1997 she was named IHF World Player of the Year. It is widely believed that she is the top Danish female player in handball in history.
It was Andersen who brought handball into showmanship. Inspiring by basketball and, in particular, specifically the Harlem Globetrotters she invented a game that was geared towards the spectators rather than the opponent. After retiring as a player active, she formed an “dream team” of the top female handball players during 2000 and 2001, who were part of a specially selected Danish team. “The “dream team” matches were an enormous success, but the matches ended after Andersen was unable to be active in her sport.
In 2008, she left Slagelse for FCK Håndbold. In 2010, she left FCK Håndbold because the club dissolved and decided to take a break until to coach a new team.
In March 2011, after less than two months of coaching, she was fired because of poor results, losing two matches from a total of four on the bench of Oltchim in the main round of the Champions League.
Due to a heart problem, Andersen stopped her player career in 1999.

While the national team for handball during the 1990s had a number of personalities, it is undisputed it was Andersen had the highest profile. She was also the most popular and controversial. Andersen immediately started coaching the Danish Women’s Handball League club Slagelse. She first helped the team reach the top league and later win the Champions League three times, in 2003/04, 2004/05 and 2006/07. In 2006, she also coached the national team of Serbia.
