Bekker is born the 11th of February, 1965 in Burgersdorp and was she was the child of Iwan Carl Horak as well as Amor Hester Dreyer. The third daughter of three children, Bekker lived within Durbanville, Western Cape, an urban area of middle class in the larger City of Cape Town metropolitan region. Bekker went to Kenridge Elementary School, which is located situated in Bellville, Western Cape and Durbanville High School, before completing the Bachelor’s Degree in Drama from the Potchefstroom University for Christian Higher Education in 1986.

Hetta Amor (Amore) Bekker (born 11 February 1965) is a South African radio personality, writer, MC and columnist. She hosted Tjailatyd the Afrikaans radio program broadcast on RSG(Radio Sonder Grense) the Afrikaans Radio Service of the SABC. As an author, Bekker has published her debut book (Tjailaresepte) on June 10, 2010. Since July, she also wrote an Afrikaans- language column for the female magazine Finesse.

In the second half of 1989, Amore began her DJ career in 1989 for Algoa FM and later moved to Good Hope FM, 94.5 Kfm, and Radio Rippel. She was hired by SABC in 2003. SABC in 2003, as hosting the morning breakfast program, Brekfis was introduced to Bekker. Later, she was replaced by Derrick Gardner and became the host of Tjailatyd the drive show in the afternoon.

Rian van Heerden had an interview with her in 2007 on the Rian show, in which she revealed that she was involved with a Greek business man many years ago and that she almost emigrated to Greece. When asked why she did not, she said: “Because I felt it in my water” – a characteristic phrase used by Bekker when discussing spiritual decisions or beliefs. This deep belief in God can also be seen in her reaction to Dr. Robert (Robbie) Nutt’s death on 13 December 2009 (he was born on 30 September 1963) which was widely publicized in the Afrikaans media.
