Hetsroni was born in Tel Aviv in 1968, the sole one child born to Sima (nee Kolker, 1932-2011) and David Hetsroni (originally Shtagovsky; 1931-2016). After completing his high school, He was drafted to the Israel Defense Forces for three years. Following his stay within Copenhagen for a time after which he moved towards China to teach at Xi’an Jiaotong Liverpool University of Suzhou for a year. He later he relocated to Turkey and was appointed a permanent associate professor of Koc University in Istanbul. Hetsroni has published dozens of op-eds that expressed the post- Zionist viewpoint, one novel called pyTSvHym (“Famiy Feud” – Hebrew) that chronicles the wallflower’s upbringing during the 80s as well as a graphic novel, Abvd Bsyn (“Lost by China” in Hebrew) created by him in conjunction in collaboration with Racheli Rottner and based on his complicated and sometimes unrequited relationship Shirin Noufi, an Israeli Arab lawyer. In 2014, Hetsroni described the Israeli conflict within Gaza as a”massacre,” and in 2015, he blamed Mizrahi Jews for the success of the right- wing party in the parliamentary elections and claimed that the Jews should have remained in their home country. This triggered public outrage and demands for him to be investigated for promoting racism as well as hate-filled speech. In 2016, there were further demands in which Hetsroni took down the flag of the nation by posting a photo in which he was using flags to clean the floor at his home and in 2017 , when Hetsroni posted a photo of himself smiling at his grave and the remains of soldiers claiming the soldiers were “idiots who did not know how to avoid the draft”. The attorney general of Israel dismissed the allegations of putting Hetsroni in jail, saying that his statements would be within the realm of freedom of speech. Recently, a renowned Rabbi, Meir Mazuz called Hetsroni “incarnation of the devil”. Hetsroni himself proudly declared that he’s “no longer Jewish”.
