Broussard was quickly contacted by several lower-division schools including Arkansas Tech and North Alabama. He transferred to Missouri Southern State University a month later to play for Division II’s Missouri Southern Lions. He missed the Haskell Indian Nations University game and returned in week two to play against Harding. After a setback from an infection, he sustained a knee injury in fall practice that year. He was unable to play for the entire 2005 season. He was granted a medical redshirt, which allowed him to continue playing college football for an additional year. He was not able, due to his struggles in 2006, to make it into the starting line-up. He had five carries of 67 yards and one touchdown in Week 6 against Fresno State. He had 74 carries and 281 yards, with four touchdowns. Broussard quit the LSU football team in the summer of 2007, stating that “my heart is not in it”. Broussard ended his LSU career with 1,537 yards rushing and 18 touchdowns in three seasons.
