In September 2017, Cuppa Coffee, celebrated its 25th Anniversary with Shaheen announcing “I’ve achieved all I’ve ever wanted to achieve creatively in animation and now it’s time to put running a studio, to bed!” In a British interview, Shaheen reportedly cited being “less than motivated to move mountains for an industry that is now morally and creatively bankrupt” as the main reason for departing animation.
Shaheen has now turned his attentions to his original loves, painting, landscape design and restoring old commercial buildings in London, Toronto and Los Angeles. He is currently co writing a feature film and producing a book on WW1 and owns the Red Ladder Gallery in Malibu, California. He opened Cuppa Coffee USA based in Los Angeles in 2018 to focus on live action drama development.
