In May 2010, Santiago together with Danny Rivera, Silverio Pérez, Carlos Esteban Fonseca, Tito Auger and the Puerto Rico Symphony Orchestra provided the students who were on strike at the University of Puerto Rico with cultural and musical performances.
Santiago composed, recorded and interpreted the music for the T.V. movie. Sonia Fritz directed Luisa Captillo de justicia (Luisa capitulo, passion of justice). She held an antillanas concert at San Juan’s Sylvia Rexach theater on 1985. Santiago recorded Canciones Sublevadas in 1994. It included several of her compositions and some Julia de Burgos poems, to which she also added music.

She met Roy Brown, a fellow Puerto Rican singer in 1978. Santiago was a member of Brown’s musical group Aires Bucaneros and took part in the recording of Aires Bucaneros (1979), and Casi Alba (1980). Santiago composed the compositions for both albums. These include “Prisa Loca”, “De la Tierra en que Naci”, and “Canciones para Vieques”. Santiago travelled with the group to different countries.
Santiago made her first solo album, “Tiene que ser the Luna”, in Puerto Rico in 1982. She also produced and participated in a number of local theatre productions during that decade. These included Las Bohemias and Mujeres Sin Hombres (Women Without Men), Matutina, Tres Momentos (Three minutes), The theatrical group took her to Mexico and the United States.
Santiago earned her Doctorate Degree in Anthropology and is a professor of Social Sciences in the University of Puerto Rico. She also belongs to a group of singers who operate an Internet radiotrova. She has a program called Magia de la Cancion (Songs Majic). In April 2004, Santiago released her latest album “Del Sueño al Hecho” (From Dreams to Reality).
