She holds the World Women’s Nautical Mile speed records for a sailing boat. This record was set in Namibia in 2006 by the World Sailing Speed Record Council. Since then, she has improved the Nautical Mile record to 37.29 knots at La Plame (South of France). The World Sailing Speed Record Council ratified.

Zara is the first person to hold both official speed sailing records. First, she set a new women’s speed world record in sailing boats over a nautical mile. She averaged 34.7 knots at Walvis bay Namibia. This was more than the speed record held by Valerie Ghibaudo (French sailor). She then set the Women’s Windsurfing World Record 500m at 45.83 knots, which was previously held for 9 years by Karin Jaggi from Switzerland at 41.25 knots. Karin Jaggi set the record at 46.31 knots in 2015. Zara returned to Luderitz in 2017, and she took her record back. She also increased the Women’s Windsurfing world record to 46.49 knots. The World Sailing Speed Record Council recognized all records.
She also held the Windsurfing World Women’s 500m record. Set in Luderitz Namibia in November 2012 held it for 3 years and regained it again in 2017 with a speed of 46.49 knots over the 500m course. It has been ratified by the World Sailing Speed Record Council.
