Lasun was born October 4, 1960. He hails from Ilobu in the south- western Nigerian state of Osun. It is only ten minutes from Osogbo, the administrative headquarters for Irepodun Local Government Area and Osun State. His formal education began at the Local Authority Primary school in Ilobu, Osun State. From 1973 to 1979, he continued his secondary education at Ansar- Ud-Deen Secondary school, Erin. He then moved to Ifon/Erin Community High Schools Ifon. He was admitted to the University of Ibadan in Ibadan (Oyo State), where he studied Mechanical Engineering and received a Bachelor of Science degree. Lasun is a chartered Engineer and holds a Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Obafemi Awolowo University (Ile-Ife).

Lasun presided over the House’s affairs when Yakubu Dogara was unable to attend or could not participate. Lasun led some House members to the 15th Commonwealth speakers and Presiding Officers Conference African Region in Accra (Ghana) in November 2015. He was also the Deputy Chairman of the conference. At the House Committee on Power’s Tuesday, December 1st 2015 investigative public hearing on activities of Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commissions (NERC), he represented the Speaker. During the second reading of a bill to legalize the creation of the North East Development Commission (sponsored by Yakubu Dogara), he presided over the House.

Lasun decamped from the All Progressive Congress to the People’s Democratic Party on September 15, 2018.
