Yury Patrikeyev is one of the most popular and richest Amateur Wrestler who was born on September 28, 1979 in Kirovo-Chepetsk, Armenia. Yury Patrikeyev, Armenian: Yowri Patrikeew ; Russian: Iurii Nikolaevich Patrikeev – born 28 September 1979, Yury Patrikeyev is an Armenian-Russian Greco Roman wrestler. He is a four-time European Champion and a medalist at the Olympic and World Championships. Patrikeyev was awarded the Master of Sport of Russia title, International Class.
Patrikeyev, now a wrestler from Armenia, won a bronze medal in the 2007 World Wrestling Championships. He won his third European Wrestling Championships gold medal the following year. Patrikeyev participated in the 2008 Summer Olympics. He was awarded an Olympic bronze medal. Patrikeyev was the first Olympian to win an Olympic bronze medal for Armenia.
Patrikeyev was a member of the Armenian Greco-Roman wrestling team at the 2010 Wrestling World Cup. The Armenian team came in third place. Patrikeyev personally won a gold medal.
Patrikeyev won bronze medals at both the 2011 European Wrestling Championships and 2012 European Wrestling Championships. Patrikeyev qualified for the At 2012 Summer Olympics in London by coming in first place at the European Qualification Tournament. In the first round, Patrikeyev defeated Baroyev, but in the next round lost to Bashir Babajanzadeh and was unable to win a medal. He came in eighth place.
Patrikeyev was awarded a gold medal at 2004 European Wrestling Championships. Patrikeyev was European Champion but lost to Khasan Baroyev in the finals at the Russian Championships later that year. He was also not selected for the Russian national wrestling team at Athens 2004 Summer Olympics. Patrikeyev felt the decision of the coaches unfair, as Baroyev was exempted for many years from international competitions. He also had the opportunity to train specifically for the Championship of Russia. Patrikeyev was involved in a dispute with Gennady Sapunov (the head coach of Russia’s Greco-Roman wrestling team). He decided to convert his Russian citizenship to Armenian in 2005. Yury continued to train and live in Krasnodar while he later served as an Armenian flag officer. In 2005, he officially quit the Russian national team.

Yury Patrikeyev began Greco-Roman wrestling at his hometown of Kirovo- Chepetsk, under the guidance of Paul Vertunova. He enrolled at the Kuban State University of Physical Education in 1996 and moved to Krasnodar where he began his wrestling career under the guidance of Igor Ivanov, an honored coach from Russia. Patrikeyev was a World Champion in 1995 as a cadet and a World Champion in 1999 as a junior.
In 2000, Patrikeyev was made a member the Russian national Greco Roman wrestling team. He won a silver medal at 2002 World Wrestling Championships, and a gold medal at 2002 European Wrestling Championships.
Patrikeyev was a member of the Armenian Greco-Roman wrestling team at the 2009 Wrestling World Cup. The Armenian team came in third place. Patrikeyev personally won a silver medal. Patrikeyev became a fourth-time the European Champion at the 2009 European Wrestling Championships, winning yet another gold medal. Patrikeyev returned to his native Russia for the 2010 World Wrestling Championships in Moscow. He won a silver medal at the competition.
