He is a Russian politician, former military officer and served as the 1st governor of Nenets Autonomous Okrug.
Komarovsky was elected head of administration for the Nenets Autonomous District on 30 November 1991. Yury Komarovsky, the head of the administration, resigned in April 1993. President Boris Yeltsin was satisfied on April 16, 1993. He was however reappointed to the post. Komarovsky was appointed Governor of the Nenets Autonomous Okrug by an order dated December 24, 1993. This led to a shift in the structure and establishment of vice-governors.
In 1994, Komarovsky tried to hold a referendum on the direct entry of the district into the Russian Federation. But then, the decree on the referendum was abolished by the decree of Yeltsin..
Since 1995, Yury Komarrovsky was chairman of the Council of the regional branch of the Movement “Our Home – Russia” in the Nenets Autonomous Okrug.
From 1990 to 1991, deputy chairman of Naryan Mar City Executive Committee.
